Staffing medics on remote sites: no room for a gap
Rostering a medic onto a remote site is not like rostering most roles. If a trades assistant misses a swing, the crew works around it. On many remote sites, if the medic is not there, work in whole areas of the site may not be able to proceed at all. The site's own rules and its obligations to its workforce often make medical coverage a condition of operating. That puts the labour hire firm supplying the medic in an unforgiving position: your roster gap becomes the client's production problem within hours.
Currency is the whole game
A medic's value on paper is a stack of registrations, qualifications and certificates, and nearly all of them expire. Registrations renew on their own cycles. First aid and advanced care certificates lapse. Site inductions age out. A medic who was perfectly credentialed last swing can be non-compliant this swing, and nothing about them looks different at the airport.
Chasing this by memory or spreadsheet is how gaps happen.
