What's new

What we've shipped lately.

Mustr gets updates constantly, and every one of them is included in every plan. No feature tiers, no upgrade prompts, no charge for the version with the good bits in it. Here's what has landed recently.

Everyone gets told what changed

The biggest gap in the early version was silence. A shift would move and the only way to find out was to look. That's gone.

NotificationsThe organisation allows it. You choose how it reaches you.IN THE APPEMAILShift changedTaken off a shiftOpen shift availableAvailability running lowCertificate expiringCertificate expiring is off for everyone in this organisation
Each person chooses how they hear about each notice, in the app, by email, both or neither.
  • Clients are told when the office acts. Crew allocated, with the names. Shift changed, with the previous details shown next to the new ones. Shift cancelled, which used to notify nobody at all. Every portal login at the site gets it, plus the site's nominated contact.
  • Crew are told when their own shift changes. Dates, site, day or night moving under them, coming off a shift, or the whole thing being cancelled.
  • Admins are told when a client raises or amends a request, and when someone applies for an open shift, so nothing sits unseen in the queue.
  • A tick on the shift form says "let the people affected know", on by default. Untick it for a typo fix and nobody gets mailed about nothing.

Everyone picks how they're told

A notifications page for workers, client contacts and the office alike lists every notice that person can receive, with a tick for in the app and a tick for email. App only, email only, both or nothing, per notice or all at once. Anything the organisation has switched off still shows, marked off for everyone, so nobody waits on a notice that was never coming. Three levels, stated plainly: the organisation decides what may be sent, the person decides how they receive it, the device decides whether push arrives there.

Onboarding you can actually configure

  • Personal details, headshot, induction, fit-for-work, competencies and availability are each optional or mandatory.
  • Your own steps: read and acknowledge a document, upload a file, confirm a statement, or complete a linked form.
  • A gate that blocks the rest of the app until the mandatory steps are done, with a grace period per step so a medical declaration gets a realistic window.
  • A cutover date, so switching the gate on gives existing crew their full grace period instead of locking out everyone at once.
  • Versioned induction documents: publish a new version and everyone acknowledges again, each acknowledgement recorded against the version they read.
  • Fit-for-work due dates: one month from first sign-in, with the due date on the admin table and anyone overdue flagged.

The shift editor, rebuilt

  • A crew panel beside the shift: avatar, role, verified competencies, and the exact dates each person is free, including partial fits. Tap a card to assign.
  • Applicants show on the shift itself. Whoever put their hand up is listed right there, one tap to assign, instead of living on a separate tab.
  • Clashes are visible before you book them. Someone already locked into another site the same week is greyed out with the clashing site and dates, rather than looking free until the save fails.
  • Draft, open to the team, assigned replaced the old assign and release dance, and picking someone selects assigned for you.
  • Repeat weekly for swing patterns, and roster tiles are clickable: compliance flags, open slots, weekend shifts and worker counts each open the list behind the number.

A requests queue that shows its work

Crewing a shift used to make it vanish with no confirmation. There are now two sections: needs action at the top, and accepted this week underneath, showing what you've crewed in the last seven days, who is on it and how long ago.

Employees who are on the books but off the tools

Seasonal crew between swings, long-term leave, or someone who has moved on but whose records you need. Set them inactive: they keep every certificate, shift and note, stop appearing when you build the roster, can't be assigned even by a direct client request, and stop getting chased by expiry reminders. Their portal login is suspended, and because billing counts active logins, they drop out of your user total until you switch them back on.

The phone experience

  • My roster is a list of cards now, not a sideways-scrolling timeline: current shift pinned on top, upcoming shifts with a countdown, site, day or night, length, confirmed status and travel on the card.
  • Add to my calendar in one tap.
  • Web push notifications per device, with a test to confirm they work, and instructions on the notifications card for iPhone and iPad, where Mustr needs to be added to the home screen first.
  • Clear feedback when applying for a shift: success, already applied, no longer available, or a real error, instead of a tap that looks like a dead button.

Clients can see cover is in motion

A shift entered for a client's site now shows on their roster as an unassigned, dashed shift while it's still an office draft, so they know you're working on it before anyone is named. It stays view-only on their side until you release it, and your crew still never see an unreleased shift.

Under the bonnet

  • A fresh two-factor check before payroll details are revealed, at the moment of viewing rather than at sign-in, with every reveal recorded in the audit log.
  • Per-employee pay and bill rates that override the site or role rate when that person works the shift.
  • Admin notification controls: how many days of availability to keep filled, when to remind, how often to repeat, and how many days before a competency expires to start chasing.
  • A roadmap board everyone can see, with voting on what matters next and a place to suggest ideas.
  • Framework and dependencies kept current, with static security scanning in the normal development workflow.

What's coming

The roadmap inside the product is where this is decided, and customers vote on it. On the board at the moment: accepting and declining shifts, timesheets and exports, pay runs and accounting integration, shift swaps, SMS, a live calendar feed, global search and fatigue rules. What gets built next is mostly decided by which of those gets the most votes.
