Mustr vs Tanda (Workforce.com) for labour hire
Tanda, now part of the global Workforce.com family, is an Australian success story with a deserved reputation for award interpretation and payroll accuracy. Plenty of businesses should use it. Whether a labour hire firm should is a different question.
What Tanda does well
Award compliance is the headline: modern award templates, timesheet automation that feeds payroll correctly, onboarding and HR records. Its published price is a bundle at $12.80 plus GST per user per month for HR, payroll and workforce management together, with individual module pricing on request. If wage compliance under Australian awards is your biggest risk, Tanda attacks exactly that problem.
Where labour hire strains it
Award compliance and site compliance are different animals. Tanda stores qualifications and licences as part of its HR records, but the product is organised around rostering your own workforce in your own business: there's no client-site portal, and the pricing is per user per month, which means a labour hire firm's constantly churning casual pool becomes a constantly churning bill.
How Mustr is different
- Site compliance is the core. Requirements per client, per role and per shift, checked before every booking, with failed checks blocked rather than noted.
- The client is a user too. Client sites log in, see their roster, raise requests. Fewer phone calls is a feature, and it's included.
- The bill doesn't churn. One flat price per bracket. Thirty casuals joining for shutdown season and finishing a month later don't touch it.
The pricing maths
At 100 users Tanda's published bundle is $1,280 a month ex GST, which is $1,408 with GST. Mustr at 100 users is $1,540 a month GST included. Similar money. The difference is what the money buys: Tanda's strength is payroll and awards, Mustr's is blocked non-compliant bookings and client portals. At 350 users the bundle passes $4,900 a month with GST while Mustr is $3,300, and the flat model pulls ahead.
Which should you pick?
