Mustr vs Connecteam for deskless crews
Connecteam has built an impressive all-in-one app for deskless teams: scheduling, time clocks, chat, checklists, training, HR records. It's keenly priced, especially for small teams. The question for a labour hire firm is what job you're actually hiring it for.
What Connecteam does well
Breadth for the money. The product is sold as three hubs, Operations, Communications and HR, each priced separately in US dollars from $29 a month covering the first 30 users, plus a per-user rate beyond that, and there's a genuinely free tier for teams of ten or under. For a small business wanting comms and scheduling in one app, that's hard to argue with.
Where labour hire strains it
- Compliance lives in the wrong place. Document expiry dates sit in the HR hub's top Expert tier, a separate purchase from the Operations hub where scheduling lives. Expiry tracking in one product, rostering in another, and nothing that blocks a booking between them.
- No client dimension. Connecteam models your team, not your client sites. There's no per-site client login, no requirements per client, no request queue from the site's side.
- USD pricing, hub by hub. Getting scheduling plus document expiries means two hubs at their higher tiers, in US dollars, per user beyond the first thirty. The sharp entry price grows teeth at labour hire headcounts.
How Mustr is different
One Australian system, one flat AUD price with GST included, where the compliance record and the roster are the same brain: requirements per client, role and shift, checked before every booking, with failures blocked. Client sites get their own portal, included.
The pricing maths
Two Connecteam hubs at Expert tier for 100 users lands in the region of $1,100 a month in converted Australian dollars on published USD pricing, and still nothing blocks a non-compliant booking. Mustr at 100 users is $1,540 GST included with the blocking as the headline feature.
Which should you pick?
For a small deskless team wanting comms, checklists and simple scheduling cheaply, Connecteam is honestly good value. For placing ticketed crews on client sites, the compliance engine is the product, and that's Mustr. See a booking get blocked live.
